Vow Renewal

Some things are worth saying twice...

Vow renewals are a heartfelt way to celebrate and reaffirm your love for each other and the promises you made to each other on your wedding day.

Why Do Couples Renew Their Vows?

There can be any number of reasons why you would want to hold a Vow Renewal ceremony.

Perhaps you were only able to have a small wedding or elopement and now wish to have more guests present. Some couples who've had a smaller wedding ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions are inviting their family and friends for a one-year vow renewal and having a larger reception to celebrate. Significant milestones, such as a wedding anniversary, are also a great time for renewing vows.

And I'd choose you in a hundred lifetimes,
in a hundred worlds,
in any version of reality,
I'd find you and
I'd choose you

There are also many other personal reasons too. For example, you and your partner may have had children since your wedding and want to include them in your second ceremony.
Maybe you’ve overcome an illness or other challenging circumstances in your marriage and simply want to re-commit to each other.
It may also be a way of saying goodbye. One particularly moving vow renewal was held in a local hospice for a couple, complete with flowers and cake. After promising to see her husband in heaven, the wife passed away peacefully.

All these reasons for a vow renewal have one thing in common and that is the desire to express and demonstrate the strength of love and commitment the couple have for each other.
If you are thinking about having a vow renewal ceremony, a joyous celebration of your marriage can be planned easily and confidently.

As a member of The Fellowship of Professional Celebrants I promise to create a unique ceremony just for you. Together we will work to collect and collate all your thoughts and ideas for this very special occasion, so that your aspirations for the day are realised and achieved. I will help you express your commitment to each other with symbolism and sparkle, making your day truly unforgettable.

The ceremony will reflect the life you’ve built together, so there are no rules, scripts or templates to follow—it’s your story, your way. You might want to consider affirming your original promises and include experiences or lessons you have learned during your marriage; hurdles you’ve overcome together, the joy and happiness you have in your lives and how you’ll continue to support each other as you move through life, side by side.

The ceremony includes the re-dedication of rings. Some couples may have new engravings made on their wedding bands or get new ones for the occasion. You may wish to include a symbolic ritual known as ring-warming or ring blessing on the day, where the rings are passed around and blessed by family and friends.

With a celebrant led ceremony you are able to hold your vow renewal ceremony in the place of your choosing!

Many couples choose to hire a wedding venue to host their celebration if they have large numbers, but you can also renew your vows in a beauty spot that has significance for you and your partner.

There are lots of reasons why a couple might consider celebrating their marriage for a second time, but simply put, a vow renewal is a lovely way of celebrating your marriage all over again.
The most important thing to remember is not to get caught up in ‘wedding planning’ again!

If you feel that I am the right person to create your proposed ceremony, I would love to meet with you, get to know your love story and work with you to enable you to have the day you always dreamed of!
